Sometimes I have to wonder

There are times that I forget that the aptitude of the average person isn't all that great, unfortunately in my current position we have a client who isn't the brightest bulb in the lot at times.
Alright so I'm working on this project and a ticket comes in and states something along the lines of the following:
"Does AppB modify the passwords of users when imported from AppA"
Simple enough I thought so I responded with:
"No, AppB does not import any passwords from AppA, it authenticates via a secondary API call back to AppA"
Alright, good to go, move the ticket to the "Done" category and move on.
I get a call from the client five minutes later:
Client: Ok, so your saying it doesn't modify the passwords?
Me: No, we don't even import the passwords.
Client: Can you modify them?
Me: No, There isn't support for that functionality.
Client: Can you update AppB to do this?
Me: We can add the functionality to AppB but it won't help in the end, AppA doesn't support it either.
Client: What would it take for AppB to be able to do this?
Me: AppA would have to have it's API updated to allow AppB to do this.
Client: So we'd have to change AppA?
Me: Yes...
Client: Can we do it without changing AppA?
** At this point I stare blankly at my monitor flabbergasted how someone could be promoted to such a point and be this retarded. **
Me: No, the change would happen on both ends.
Client: Ooh, OK. We won't do that then. Thanks!
